Alumni Spotlight - Allison Lee

Allison Lee - 1995 B.F.A. Stage Management

Where are you from?
I'm from Bradford, PA

Why did you choose Penn State?
I chose Penn State because of all the schools I got into, it had an actual theatre program. The others needed me to be liberal arts major or a communication major.

What are you doing now?
I am currently a member of the stage management team of Newsies which is closing in late August.  (fellow Penn State Alum- BFA acting 1984 John E. Brady is in the cast)    Other Broadway shows that I have done are  Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, The Addams Family, Monty Python's Spamalot, and Disney's Tarzan.      Before I came to the New York area, I spent 9 years with theRadio City Christmas Spectacular all over the country as well as with numerous regional theatre, a yearly award show at the Kennedy Center and even a Renaissance Faire.    Touring as the stage manager with Yo-You Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble has taken me to Switzerland, China, South Korea, the Middle East, and most recently, to Carnegie Hall.

As I need more flexibility with my schedule and wanted to be able to spend time with family, I have been transitioning into doing more corporate events, meetings and award shows. My plan to commit fully to that next year with some subbing on Broadway shows.
