International Study

London

Each graduate class in the School of Theatre will do a 5-week course in London their first summer at Penn State. Actors engage in an intensive study in voice and text work with Charmian Hoare, teacher of voice training at London's Guildhall School and vocal coach for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Taking advantage of the extraordinary London theatre scene, students enhance their study of dramatic literature by attending numerous productions and meetings with key actors, directors, designers, and other theatre artists.

South Africa

The commissioned new work that is created for each class of actors will be showcased in Africa during their 2nd summer in the program at the 2nd largest theatre festival in the world; The National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. The actors will also have the opportunity to travel throughout South Africa for 2 weeks to visit the Apartheid Museum, The Market Theatre in Johannesburg and the Athol Fugard Theatre and Robin Island in Cape Town.
