RICHARD ROLAND

Richard graduated with his MFA in Directing from Penn State, where he has taught Musical Theatre Audition Class, Musical Theatre Studio Classes, Musical Theatre Form and Analysis, and, currently, The Art of the Theatre. Born and raised in New York, he’s a third-generation Broadway veteran. As an actor he was seen on Broadway and National Tours in Follies, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Titanic. He performed extensively in regional theatre and off-Broadway, spent two years on a soap opera and appeared in numerous commercials. He has directed for theatres all over the country, receiving Best Director nods for his work on Ragtime (New Hampshire Theatre Awards) and God of Carnage (Raleigh Indy). He served as Associate Artistic Director at Theatre Raleigh in NC for a season and most recently, Richard was Adjunct at University of West Florida. His students have gone on to perform on Broadway and Tours in Finding Neverland, Matilda, The Book of Mormon, Cinderella, Anything Goes, A Gentleman’s Guide…, as well as Disney Cruise Lines and Theme Parks, and in both television and radio commercials. He received his BFA in Theatre Performance from Denison University.
