Commissioned New Works

Commissioned New Works

The culminating project for the M.F.A. actors is a performance of a new play commissioned by the School of Theatre; written specifically for each M.F.A. acting class. This play is workshopped and developed over the time that the M.F.A. actors are in residency.  Additionally, the play tours to the National Arts Festival in South Africa then makes its world premiere on the School of Theatre’s main stage. This process allows the actor to work alongside a skilled playwright demonstrating his or her ability to collaborate professionally.
